LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Across the state, hundreds of locations were set up to collect prescription medications on Saturday for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
According to the DEA, 20.5 million people in the U.S. misused prescription drugs of some form in 2019. Many of those drugs were obtained from the medicine cabinets of family members or friends.
North Little Rock police filled over 10 boxes with unwanted or expired prescription drugs, collecting more than 890 pounds of drugs.
In Hot Springs, the police department collected over 200 pounds of unused drugs, and Little Rock police collected over 100 pounds.
If you missed Saturday’s events, Arkansas has more than 225 permanent collection boxes with at least one in every county.
