FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Residential trash and recycling collection in the city might resume Friday, depending on the weather.
A city news release says residents who normally would have their trash picked up Wednesday and Thursday will have items picked up Friday and Saturday “to the greatest extent possible.” Trash trucks may not be able to reach all areas of the city because of snow or ice on hilly or shaded streets, according to the release.
Residential customers won’t be charged for extra bags of trash.
Curbside recycling and yard waste collection will resume Monday for all customers, residential or commercial, so city staff can focus on trash collections, the release states. Recyclables can still be taken to two dropoff sites open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1420 S. Happy Hollow Road and 735 W. North St.
Commercial trash routes are being limited to critical facilities and will resume normal operations when road conditions allow.
The transfer station and recycling and trash collections offices will reopen to the public Monday.
